Quetta Gladiators vs Karachi Kings Predictions

Team batting second to win

After the kind of start they had, the Karachi Kings looked like they would be occupying the fifth spot through most part of the tournament. And while they are still down to that final spot in the points table, the one thing that everyone will be wary of is the fact that a win here will push them up to the second spot.

Yes, the competition is so evenly matched at the moment that if Karachi win, they will jump up to six points from six games and that would be the same as Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, both of whom have six from six. Except, there’s a good chance that the Kings will have a better net run-rate than those two teams.

What started off as an abysmal beginning for the Karachi Kings when they lost three games in a row, is fast turning into a bit of a shock for the other teams. They were lucky to win their fourth game in some ways, with the weather playing its part against the Islamabad United but this was followed by another exciting game that could have gone either way.

Karachi batted first and piled up 174 for four from their 20 overs before needing all of their resources to restrict the Peshawar Zalmi to 165 in the final over. Unfortunately for the Zalmis, that meant that if Karachi win this game against the Gladiators, they will go down to the fifth spot.

That’s not to say it is going to be an easy for the Karachi Kings given they are up against a side that has been in some sort of a form. Quetta are not on the top of the table for nothing. They have played rather well and barring a defeat at the hands of Islamabad United, the side has displayed signs of being a well-oiled unit.

They are also coming off a performance which could fill a lot of fear in the minds of the opponents in general and Karachi in particular, having chased down 200 against Lahore. Needing 201 to win the game, the Gladiators required 77 from the final five overs of the encounter and completed the target with seven balls to spare.

Yep, they scored those 77 runs in just 3.5 overs with five wickets in hand to puncture the bowling hopes.

Karachi will afford a fight, but we think the team batting second will have a huge advantage going into this game.
