Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators 1st Qualifying Final PSL Match Prediction Feb 28 2017
Quetta Gladiators vs Peshawar Zalmi PSL 1st Qualifying Final Match Prediction Feb 28
Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators (PZ vs QG) preview is placed here. The Pakistan Super League playoffs begin with the first Qualifier of the tournament to be played between the Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators on Tuesday, February 28 at Sharjah. This game will kick start at 8 pm local time (4 pm GMT or 9 pm Pakistan time).
Quetta look favorites to win this game
It has been quite a competition for both these teams and they enter the PSL playoffs with a Qualifier that will see the winner go through to the final. The good news for the losing team is that they will still have a chance to make the final despite that defeat thanks to the format of the tournament.
While both teams finished level in the tournament with nine points apiece, the Gladiators have been the surprise package and very deserving of their top two finish. They could have easily accumulated an extra win in the competition but for a couple of complacent showings that led to two successive defeats.
And that is where the Peshawar Zalmi could hurt the Gladiators because they have the momentum with them while the Gladiators don’t. Peshawar won their last two games of the league stage while the Gladiators fell to successive defeats going into the playoffs.
What’s been interesting to watch is that the Zalmis haven’t had outstanding performers with either the bat or the ball. Kamran Akmal is the only batsman with more than 200 runs in the tournament for them while the next best is Shahid Afridi, who is the 17th-best batsman in the tournament as far as the runs scores is concerned.
Looking at their bowling and things are not too different. Hasan Ali has nine wickets to his name while Wahab Riaz has seven. Others have chipped in with a few as well which points to this being a team effort so far. What makes it interesting is the fact that captain Darren Sammy has just one wicket to his name and has scored just 81 runs but has still managed to inspire his team to glory.
On the other hand, the Gladiators were helped by Rilee Rossouw at the start of the tournament before Kevin Pietersen came to the party with the bat in the middle of the PSL 2017. Unfortunately for them though, the bowling hasn’t been extraordinary with Mahmudullah’s seven wickets being their best so far. And he’s no longer a part of the tournament.
Tymal Mills and Hasan Khan will need to continue with some of the form they have shown in the tournament but will that be enough?
The first game between Quetta and Peshawar this season was abandoned due to rain while in the second match, the Zalmis won a low-scoring thriller. Mohammad Asghar three-fer and Riaz’s 2/17 helps Peshawar to restrict Quetta to 128 before needing Afridi’s 23-ball 45 to lift them from 52 for six to 130 for eight in the final over.
