The loser of the first playoffs game will face the winner of the second match in what will be the third playoffs match. The winner of this game will make the final too.
At the end of the league stage of the tournament, the Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators finished in the top two of the points table while the Karachi Kings and Islamabad United ended third and fourth respectively. Lahore Qalandars were knocked out.
For most part of the tournament, it looked like the Gladiators would finish at the top with ease but they lost their final two games of the league stage of the competition to finish second.
While that doesn’t affect their chances because both the top two teams get an extra opportunity to make the final, it does take away from their momentum. Peshawar won every alternate game to end on nine points, which was the same as the Gladiators but edged them to the second spot because of a better net run-rate.
The Karachi Kings, after a poor start, came back well to win their final two games including one against the Islamabad United that pushed them down to the fourth spot.
Quetta will take on Peshawar on Tuesday for a place in the final. The Eliminator will see Karachi play Islamabad with the team losing this game getting knocked out. The loser of the Quetta-Peshawar match will take on the winner of the Karachi-Islamabad encounter for a place in the final as well.
