Amir Khan candid over financial woes like never before

Amir Khan has opened up about his bad patch in career, mismanagement of expenses and departure of his father and best friend from his management team after he lost to Alvarez Canelo in May 2016.

In an interview with Boxing News, Khan said that people show their true colour during your bad time. He talked candidly over his best friend Saj Mohammad’s departure from the management, his uncle Taz Khan and father Shah Khan.

He said that the people around him thought that he has lost the big fight of his career, against Alvarez and now it’s over. They wanted a big cheque and left, he complained.

However, Khan said that he is not over yet as he just turned 30 and there still are few good years left in him. He said that he would prove everyone wrong in his next fight.

It should be noted here that the next much-talked-about bout of Khan is against Manny Pacquiao which is a £32 million fight. His time to shine is coming up, Amir Khan asserted. However, on the contrary, there are reports that the bout is not going to happen.

Elaborating on his expenses, he said that small expenses are ignored when one is making millions which is why they pile up and become a hefty sum.

He said that he recently got a server bill for eight grand when he does not need a server and office.

His office is the gym, he said.

The British star further said that he does not even read his emails now.

Accountants used to rip me off, property advisers used to rip me off, he laid bare. I turned to take care of my expenses after Alvarez knockout and wanted to change the entire structure which is why people around me left.

Talking about best friend Saj’s refusal to work for him, he said that he had told him to continue working even after his retirement but he denied and walked off.

Khan said that he lost the fight in May and it had all changed by October and November.
